WAMZEDU BOTANICAL GARDEN (SHG)

Wamzedu Botanical Garden (SHG) was founded in Voi, Sagalla Location (Kwenjallo Village), The Wamzedu Botanical Garden (SHG) has grown to become one of the most effective and wide-reaching environmental organizations in the world leading by establishing nursery seedlings for one of the most threatened trees species, endangered, vulnerable and critically endangered trees in the world.

WHAT WE DO

At Wamzedu Botanical Garden (SHG), we find research on the most endangered, critically endangered, vulnerable trees species around the world including mostly resent research by KEFRI Kenya on threatened trees species in Taita Taveta. Some of the trees species that are in the nursery of Wamzedu Botanical Garden (SHG) include Coffea fadenii Kahawa (Teita) (EN), Prunus africana (Kiburabura) (Mngima-Taita) (VU), Warburgia Ugandensis, (EN&VU), Camphor Tree (Cinnamomum Camphora), Cherry/Strawberry Guava - Red (Psidium cattleyanum).

Wamzedu Botanical Garden (SHG) carries out research on other threatened trees which are medicinal in our Taita Taveta culture and through it different research organizations can join in and make it a success and ensure that through climate change we can make world a better place and green again.
